Design of genetic assays for deployment on remote instrumentation (http://www.mbari.org/esp/) to evaluate temporal changes in different strains of prokaryotes that perform essential biogeochemical functions (cyanobacteria, archaeal ammonia oxidizers, etc.) by functional gene quantification. Evaluation of transcriptomic changes from archived samples collected by remote instrumentation. Consultant for ESP Generation 3 technological requirements. Integration of molecular biological, chemical, physical data with regional models.
